We've gone from multiple browser engines (Netscape, Mozilla, Webkit, and more) that powered many different browsers in the past. Then, Chromium came to be and just about everyone is now based off this single engine. All we have available now is Chrome based browsers, Mozilla with the Firefox browser, and then Safari with Webkit. Will we see a resurgence sometime in the future of more browser engines, knowing that the development of something new is going to be very expensive and would require a massive amount of dev hours.

What could come out that would offer what we see now but, is something that would move the browser engine sapce further into the future?

People are taking care of privacy and AI integration, I think there will be more browsers with these features. However, I am an old school guy, I have been using Forefox for almost 20 years.
