Community Crossroads: How Has Online Community Changed Your Real Life?

  • Administrators

Beyond just content creation, how has being part of online communities (like this one) affected your offline relationships, career choices, or personal growth? Share positive changes, unexpected connections, or skills you've developed that translate beyond the digital world. Sometimes the real value of communities isn't what we originally expected.

I not only run my own communities but also am staff on a lot of communities. I even manage communities for clients and in the process I also make money. Communities are part of my life. I spend 4-5 hours on multiple communities every day. Communities have even replaced my real life communications.

Being in communities like this honestly changed how I communicate in real life. I'm better at explaining ideas now. Plus I've met people who became actual friends and collaborators. It also pushed me toward a career pivot I wouldn't have considered otherwise.

Honestly, online community changed my life big time. I met some good people who later became real friends. There was a time I was job hunting and one guy from a forum helped me fix my CV. Till today, we still gist. I think when you join the right online group, it boosts your confidence and connection too.

I joined a creative Discord during lockdown, and it actually pushed me to start posting my work online. Before that, I was too shy. Now I’ve even gotten small gigs from people I met there. So, yeah, it’s not just “online friends” sometimes, they become your support system.
