Your Own Video Channel: Personal Streaming with an OwnCast Server

In this video, I'll share how I use OwnCast to livestream directly from my computer without any third parties. OwnCast is a free and open-source live video server that gives you complete control. I'll show you just how easy it is for me to install my OwnCast server on services like DigitalOcean and Hetzner, often taking less than 10 minutes to get running. I also go over the streaming software like OBS and eCamm Live that works well with OwnCast. Once my server is up, I can broadcast at multiple qualities simultaneously while having full authority over my content without censorship issues. I also discuss my experience integrating OwnCast with federated networks like Mastodon to expand my potential outreach. If self-hosting seems daunting, I suggest some alternatives I've used for livestreaming independence such as PeerTube and existing platforms.
