Do you think it's worth paying for premium software subscriptions or can you get by just fine with free tools?

So here's something I keep debating with myself.. Are those premium software subscriptions actually worth the money or are we all just getting suckered in? Like there are so many free tools out there that do pretty much the same thing right? But then again sometimes those paid features really do make a difference. What's your philosophy on this? Do you happily pay for the upgrades or do you stick with free versions and work around the limitations?

For me I like to see how the free service works within my own workflow. If it comes to a point in which I actually need to use the paid software because it offers something the free version doesn't, and it provides a better experience for me then, I'll use it.

The free tools work well, but we also need to know that the premium ones make life easier. I used to manage with Canva free version, but after I paid for the Pro version, the difference was clear. No more watermarks problems or limited templates.

Yeah true. I used GIMP for years before switching to Photoshop, and I have no regret that I did so. The workflow is smooth, I was also able to save some time and my clients are happier than before. But I understand that not everybody can actually afford the premium. So, you can start free, learn the ropes, then upgrade when you can.
