  2. Pricing creative work is one of the hardest business challenges makers face. How do you calculate what to charge when you're competing with mass production? Discuss formulas you use, how you factor in your time and expertise, and the psychology of pricing. Share experiences with being told your work is "too expensive" and how you've learned to communicate value. How do you price work sustainably without pricing yourself out of the market?

  5. In a world of fast fashion and planned obsolescence, there's something profoundly satisfying about crafting objects built to endure. What draws you to creating physical items meant to last years or generations? Discuss the materials, techniques, and philosophy behind durable making, the pride in craftsmanship that prioritizes quality over quantity, and how you communicate this value to potential customers who are accustomed to cheaper, disposable alternatives.

  6. Putting genuinely personal creative work into the world requires enormous courage. How do you push past the fear of judgment, criticism, or indifference? Discuss the emotional weight of sharing art that comes from a deeply personal place, strategies for developing thicker skin without becoming closed off, and how you distinguish between constructive feedback and noise. What keeps you sharing even when it feels scary?

  7. With new platforms emerging constantly and established ones changing their algorithms, how do you decide where to invest your limited time and energy? Are you all-in on one or two platforms, or do you spread yourself across multiple channels? Share your platform strategy, discuss which platforms have given you the best ROI on your effort, and talk about the exhaustion that comes from trying to maintain presence everywhere. How do you decide when to abandon a platform that's not working?

  8. Every creator faces this tension: do you create what genuinely excites you, or do you optimize for what performs well on platforms? How do you balance artistic integrity with practical considerations like reach and monetization? Share your experiences with following trends versus blazing your own trail, and how you've navigated the pressure to create "what works" instead of what matters to you. Have you found a middle ground, or do you firmly plant your flag on one side?

  9. Making the leap from hobbyist to professional creator is one of the most significant decisions in any maker's journey. What signs told you it was time to go all-in? Was it reaching a certain income threshold, audience size, or simply an internal knowing that you couldn't ignore your creative calling any longer? Share your transition story, the fears you faced, and what you wish you'd known before taking the plunge. For those still balancing a day job with creative work, what would it take for you to make the switch?

  10. Streaming platforms often say they can't moderate content until it's reported, using "safe harbor" laws as protection. But should platforms that profit from content have more responsibility to actively monitor for harmful material? Or would that create an impossible standard that would shut down smaller platforms?

  11. As we close out the year 2025, I'm excited to start working on content for 2026. I hope in that your celebrations are fun-filled and safe, and I'll be seeing you all next year.

  12. Long time Twitch news and update guy has released the results of the 2025 year end Twitch predictions.

  13. Unlike studio content, IRL streaming involves real people who never consented to be part of someone's show. Should there be special rules for public streaming? How do we balance creator freedom with protecting random people just trying to live their lives?

  14. I was reminded again after watching a recent clip from the WAN Show, about how YouTube has fully embraced its downfall into irrelevancy. It's no longer a video platform for sharing your content of educational or even fun, silly videos. It has been taken over by AI slop created games, AI shorts, ads, and maybe if you're lucky, an actual video. I could only sit here nodding in agreement of how if I want to watch interesting videos or find content that might pique my interest, I have to go somewhere else. This is especially apparent if viewing YouTube without any extensions or ad blockers. YouTube has a problem and its that the people in charge (have been for quite some time…

  15. Wanting to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. I do hope that this year is treating good and even if not, thee is more to be thankful for than a few slices of pie and mashed potatoes.

  16. The FOSS world of forum software continues to get better and better. Lately I've been going through a 30 days experiment of installing, setting up, and working within both NodeBB and Discourse. Julian over at the NodeBB side of things has been plugging away in taking care of the software, with the latest version having some QoL features. https://community.nodebb.org/post/106261 There's a lot more in the latest patch notes he posted up.

  17. If you want your articles, blog posts, ebooks or any kind of written work to perform well, bring engagement, get traffic, get conversion, etc. you need to create content that performs exceptionally well on search engine and social media. If your content ranks top on search results and if it gets viral on social media, you can get traffic and generate revenue. How does that happen? Write Long Headlines Use Plenty of Subheadings (H2 and H3 Tags) Write Long-Form Content Include Lists Frequently

  18. This is more generally directed to the wider audience, and not just on indie creators. When you search throughout the wider internet, does the software used for the community affect your decision in which you'll want to participate? If so, what do you usually tend to look for within a community software?

  19. Each generation develops different skills based on their environment and technology. What skills from previous generations do you think are being lost that still have value? Conversely, what new skills are younger generations developing that older generations might not appreciate? Is there a skill you wish you had learned that was common in a different generation?

  20. Content creation can be mentally and physically exhausting. Share your techniques for avoiding burnout, maintaining work-life balance, and keeping creativity flowing. Do you batch content? Take planned breaks? Have backup content ready?

  21. Some of the best content comes from creator collaborations, but finding the right people to work with can be challenging. Share success stories of collaborations that elevated your content or helped you grow. How do you approach potential collaborators? What makes a partnership work beyond just audience size?

  22. Had just got done watching EposFox's latest upload in which he explains where his headspace has been over the past few months. Something I feel is very similar to what I myself have been feeling as well. To have that growing expectation of producing content week after week, to be chasing that YouTube dragon of relevancy is extremely tiring. He makes several great points in what were his struggles over the years, leading up to the recent point in time. To have this fomo of wanting to produce content that is going to be on the forefront of a trend on YouTube only to feel some sort of defeatism when you don't have that spark you once had. I know first hand on how this was. …

  23. Every platform's algorithm seems to change weekly, leaving creators constantly adapting. Do you find yourself tailoring content to what you think the algorithm wants, or do you stick to what genuinely interests your audience? Share experiences with algorithm changes that helped or hurt your reach, and strategies for balancing algorithmic optimization with authentic content creation.

  24. I know that for many of us here, might not be active users of Facebook and that is what I would like to ask is if that you are, do you find pages and/or groups still useful? The platform itself is constantly being filled with bots who are posting or replying to the groups you might be part of. For myself, I barely visit Facebook and that's on the occasion of seeing if there is new information for the Ecamm Live software I use. As they have a Facebook group and a Discord server, the avenues of support or generally community involvement are limited to just closed off platforms. Do you tend to use Facebook for your community building, and do you use the ad network there in …

  25. Start small and use social media to promote everything. I know one lady in Lagos that started by posting her crochet bags on Instagram now she’s getting international orders. I find out that people love handmade items, especially if the presentation makes sense. So, to do that, you have to learn branding, package your stuff well, and engage with people on a deeper level. Don’t wait till everything is perfect before you start. Start and grow with time.
