  1. I really do think Youtube has been going down the drain since Google took over years ago. Yet I'm still on Youtube because I feel like that's where most of my audience is. I haven't tried branching out yet, I know Peertube exists but I don't have the means to host my own instance currently and I'm not a fan of Rumble since I don't politically align with that platform. Tiktok could work if I made shorter videos. I really do think creators are just being managed, and if you bring in lots of profit for the platform you're actually heard and taken care of. Whereas channels with barely any subs that aren't monetized often get struck with false copyright claims that are harder to appeal.
  2. Pretty much all the hate comes from a certain group of people online who align themselves with a certain political group. I don't listen to anyone who uses terms like "woke" when they want to get their point across, because it's just a scapegoat for bigotry IMO. It's also clickbait too, they know when they make videos talking about Bluesky in a negative way they'll get views from all sorts of people. Clickbait does work though, there's been numerous videos I've watched that was clickbait that has thousands of comments and millions of views. As for Bluesky, it's a much better platform than Twitter. Not only can you block accounts you don't want to interact with, it's just a more chill place than Twitter.
  3. I recently got an idea for a new community, I decided to pick MyBB for this community but I think it's a bit outdated by 2025 terms. So I'm wanting to switch platforms but I'm not sure exactly which platform I want to switch to. If I had the money, I would pick Invision but I can't afford it. I also don't want to purchase another VPS account to host a NodeBB or Discourse instance. So I'd like to hear some feedback from people here on which platform I should switch to! I'm thinking about either vBulletin perhaps or Xenforo? vBulletin is cheaper and comes with a lot more features than Xenforo does out of the box. Plus I feel Xenforo as of late has been lacking with updates. I've thought about using another free script like maybe SMF, but there hasn't been an update since last year. Ubb threads is another option, but it feels a bit more out of date than MyBB lol.
  4. Honestly I only use free software when it comes to editing my videos. On Linux I use Kdenlive, but if I'm using Windows I use DaVinci Resolve. I also use GIMP to make thumbnails as well as banner images for my websites. I've tried Adobe Premiere before but I didn't care for it so I canceled my Adobe subscription and went back to using DaVinci Resolve.
  5. I'm not sure how big Cassette Beasts is, but I recently played through this amazing monster collecting indie game a few months ago. I loved every moment of it, and the girl in my avatar is Meredith. She's a character in the game and she's my favorite one actually lol. I want to go back and play it again, I think I want to try and complete my fusion bestiary but it'll take a long time. That's the cool thing about this game, you collect monsters but you and your partner can fuse your beasts to create new ones!
  6. Greetings everyone my name is Ravenfreak, feel free to call me Raven for short if you'd like! I'm a 35 year old guy who enjoys listening to music, programming from time to time, playing video games, and I own a few websites including a Youtube channel. I've been making videos since 2008, but honestly haven't done much with my channel until 2022 when I started unboxing Retro Game Treasure boxes. I also talk about video games and tech, and enjoy making challenge videos in Pokemon games. My username comes from Raven from Teen Titans btw. Nice to meet you all!
