It's been a few years since the public release of the live streaming platform Kick and there has been a ton of thoughts thrown about since then. We've seen their rise of no rules content to lately trying to reign in some of those early creators shenanigans to some degree of success. There's still this reputation of Kick and the creators on the platform, what has been your experience?

Community Check-In: Where Do You Want to Connect? 🤔 Quick update: I'm bringing one of my older YouTube channels back online and continuing to grow the Independent Creator Podcast. But before I start pushing content everywhere, I want to get real about something. Let's talk about our community space. Looking at our forums here, I'm seeing what we all probably already know – we're a small but solid group. And that's got me thinking: instead of trying to maintain every platform possible, what if we focused on where you actually want to participate? Here's what I'm considering: • Keep these forums going – Maintain our current setup alongside the main site for blog posts …

YouTube has been this arbiter of wholesomeness when it comes to their advertisers and how creator can or should not swear within some made up number of seconds in the beginning of their video or even how much they do within a video. It was back in 2023 that you couldn't (or shouldn't) swear within the first 8 - 13 seconds of your video. You know, those highly influenced kids and teens might hear a no no word (le gasp.) Creator freedom is continuously being attacked from just about all angles for about a decade, with recent ramping up in just the past few years. I understand that YouTube is providing a free place for all of us to host our content on their infrastructure an…

A cute update has come to the store within Moonbeam, avatar flairs, are a small bit of flair that you can use on top of your avatar picture. Very similar to what you can see within Discord, these avatar flairs come in three flavors currently and are free to claim. The future I can see in that these flairs can be purchasable for a low cost on each flair, even going as far as future collaborations. While the current flairs are rather simple, I can see the future potential for these as another item that people would be able to purchase which would help Moonbeam bring in some revenue that wouldn't be advertising. Of course, this source of revenue wouldn't be much compared to…

When I started the forums here I had the mindset in which our community can provide a place for other creators to come together and share their experiences and knowledge. I think I made some improvement on that bit, mostly. Taking the time and going over what is presented here in our community and I'm seeing that there can be some improvements made. Wanting to narrow down the focus of what the 2TonWaffle Community is here to provide you all with. Tutorials and guides on how to better your content creation journey along with the platforms and communities found out on the internet. Hey creative community! 👋 I've been diving deep into how the digital landscape is evolving for artists, and I'm genuinely excited to share some insights about a platform that's quietly revolutionizing how creatives build their careers: Substack. After watching an incredible breakdown by a photographer who's been consistently using the platform for over 3 years (and building 5.5K engaged subscribers!), I'm convinced this might be the alternative social media solution many of us have been searching for. Why Substack Hits Different for CreativesUnlike traditional social platforms that feel like you're constantly feeding an algorithm beast, Substack operates on a fundamentall…

For the past 8 months I've been running our front page with the open source software Ghost. It is a great system for blog posts, articles and even for newsletters. After 8 months I'm going through the metrics and seeing how well our reach is for the posted content. The news isn't all that great, over these many months our membership level is stagnant at the same level for over several months. In the beginning when the forums were being run under NodeBB, my idea was to integrate the blog posts comments to live within their posts in the forums. Unfortunately the plugin to get this taken care of wasn't working and had not been updated for the latest version of NodeBB. The f…

As I've been going through and re-editing past live streams of the First 2 Hours, I had in the back of my mind of setting up a database of the games I've reviewed. Having a place that would hold the information of each games, it's associated pictures and videos and including the reviews of the game. Knowing what I wanted to see for this new system I actually caught myself in going through some painful building of something that might not look great or even work out as I wanted, I knew about a plugin that does everything I was looking to have done. The Games DatabasePurchasing the plugin and getting it installed is quite easy as Invision Community makes the process user f…

We all have that game we're slightly embarrassed to admit we love - whether it's a mobile match-3 game, an "objectively bad" title with charm, or something completely outside your usual genre. What's your gaming guilty pleasure and why does it hook you despite knowing "better"? Sometimes the games we're supposed to hate end up being exactly what we need.

Travel is a highly profitable niche. I run a travel blog, I have been running this blog for over 10 years and recently revamped my site. I have earned money from my blog by promoting travel and tour packages. When I travel, I take plenty of photos and videos, which I later use for marketing and creating engaging content. I haven’t explored travel vlogging but this is on my bucket list. Have you created travel content?

If you are new to influencer marketing, you may be wondering about which platform is best or whether you should focus on one or many. Well, frankly speaking, the platform itself is less important than having a genuine, engaged, and large following. Choose a platform based on your skills and interests. For instance, if you are not comfortable making videos, TikTok or YouTube might be difficult platform. If photography or infographics are your strengths, Instagram and Pinterest might be better option. Focus on quality content and building trust on your chosen platform.

Having a good social media management strategy is very important. For me, I develop a content calendar, interact with my followers, and monitor my stats. This has helped me to establish a good online presence and find people with whom I share common views with. The trick here is consistency so I aim at posting everyday and respond to comments very quickly.

Do you currently use any decentralized web platforms? Anything that is part of the fediverse falls under this category, ActivityPub connects a bunch of websites together which makes it easier to locate platforms that aren't made by big corporations such as Meta social media platforms. I believe that the internet is in a state where soon the bigger names are going to eventually fail and many people are going to find alternatives. I highly recommend looking into integrating your projects to the Fediverse if you can. I'm hoping more forum software will go down this route eventually.
